The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Olive and Adam are my favorite kind of couple. Adam’s outwardly serious and aloof appearance contrasts perfectly with Olive’s cheery, snarky self. Watching Adam patiently tolerate Olive’s constant teasing had me smiling on almost every page. I’m all for fake dating tropes and loved watching Adam and Olive’s friendship gradually develop into something more.
The focus on STEM and the academic research setting was a nice touch. Olive is an intelligent woman trying to make it in a male-dominated field and I found the glimpses into academic life and Olive’s personal struggles to succeed really interesting outside of the romance.
My only issue with the book was the initial set up for Adam and Olive’s relationship. Kissing the first random man (and colleague) you cross was a bit too contrived for me to believe but the rest of the story developed naturally and made up for the awkward beginning. I loved this book so much and I can’t wait for a re-read!
